My first two page layout!!

For the past two days I’ve been working on a two page layout that I was bound to complete if it killed me.  I saw the idea in my head and it actually came out on paper the same way Smile

My husband took me to Bryson City, NC, to ride the train for my birthday in October 2010 and we got some great photos that I new I wanted to scrapbook when we got home.

I used my cricut pens to write on the train …

The paper is all Stampin Up! – Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, and Marina Mist.  The train was cut from the “Christmas” cartridge, and the font is from “Ashlyn’s Alphabet” cartridge.

Friday Mashup Color Challenge

I submitted this card for a color challenge on the Friday Mashup! blog which is a really cute challenge blog.

The challenge was to use the following colors from Stampin Up!

Marina Mist

Real Red

Old Olive

Now, I have to be honest – I didn’t think these colors matched too well but once I got finished it doesn’t look to bad.

DSCN4362

I used my cuttlebug on the green paper with the “Bloomin Dots” embossing folder.  The ribbon is also Real Red from Stampin Up!.  I used “Mini Monograms” cricut cart to cut the scallop and the circle.

Merry Christmas!

Do you ever get an idea in your head and can’t rest until you get it on paper?  Well, that’s what I did today so I put together this simple layout for Christmas.

DSCN4361

The paper is all Stampin Up! – Garden Green, Cherry Cobbler, and Whisper White.

The cartridges I used were…

“Christmas” for the Christmas banner

“Birthday Bash” for the font of 2010

“Joys of the Season” for the holly

The holly around the picture were put there by Walmart..LOL

Scrapmaster’s Paradise Color Challenge

Well, I think I have found my new favorite thing to do – COLOR CHALLENGES!!!

Tonight I did a color challenge for the Scrapmaster’s Paradise blog.  She works with all Stampin Up! products and colors and I had actually had the colors she called for in the challenge.  If you want to do the challenge you don’t have to use Stampin Up! stuff, you can use your own cardstock but the colors have to be really close to what she’s calling for.

The challenge for this was to use the following colors:

Early Expresso (dark brownish color)

Daffodil Delight (yellow)

Cherry Cobbler (dark red)

Here’s the card I came up with….

I cuttlebugged the yellow with the Spots & Dots folder, and the sentiment is from My Pink Stamper.

My Pink Stamper Color Challenge

This is the first color challenge I’ve ever done so I wasn’t sure I would be able to pull it off, but I did and shocked myself!

The challenge was to use the following colors:

Teal or Blue

Green

Brown

First off, these are not even colors that I would think to pair together, but they came out really cute Smile

Supplies used:

Stampin Up! cardstock – Garden Green and Brilliant Blue

Stampin Up! ribbon – Whisper White Satin

AC Cardstock was used on all layers of the owl

Sentiment “Owl always love you” from My Pink Stamper

Busy, busy, busy !!!

The past couple of weeks have been pretty busy for me since I’ve been trying to get all my Christmas cards done, and I finally finished today – all 47 of them!  I’m pretty proud of myself for making that many since I only made 10 last year, I’ve come a long way in a year Smile

Here are pictures that maybe will inspire someone else for next year Smile

Snowman Card (2)Snowflake Card (2)

This next card is probably gonna be my favorite for this year, and I learned that I have to start really EARLY to get a bunch of these made – they take a lot of time.

This card was made with all Stampin Up! products which work great in my cricut!!

The next three cards I learned to make at the local scrapbook shop so I can’t take credit for the idea, but I did change em up some so I can take credit for them Smile

In the making of these cards I realized that I used almost 45yds of ribbon, and went through 3 ATG rolls!!

Merry Christmas!!

Tracking, tracking and more tracking …

I am sooo excited… I have 5 packages on the way that I’ve been tracking and 3 will be here THIS week!!

I have LOTS of fun stuff comin from Peachy Keen Stamps, and Custom Crops, but the BIG package is my demonstrator stuff from Stampin Up!.  Yes, it’s official – I’ve become a Stampin Up! demonstrator.  I can’t say enough about the products they have, their paper is my favorite product and it’s AWESOME!!  They take a lot of the guesswork out of matching your colors together, which is a big problem for me.

Oh well, back to tracking … it says “Out for Delivery” so I’m back to watching for UPS Smile

Scrapbook Group …

I have joined a scrapbook group at the local convalescent home that meets every Monday at 2pm for an hour and a half, they call themselves the “Golden Scrappers”.  It is usually five residents and 5 volunteer helpers, which is what I am.  I have a lot of fun with them, they’re pretty spunky Smile

Yesterday we met for our cropping session and we are working on Christmas cards to give to the staff, about 50 of them.  Another volunteer named Rose and I cut out shapes from our cricuts to go on the front of their cards.  We had Christmas trees, presents, Christmas penguins, lots of stickers, and patterned paper.  They are doing A2 size post cards, where they decorate the front of the card and then they’ll sign the back.  I think they had fun working on them yesterday, I know I sure did!!  I’ll try and remember to take some pictures next week Smile

Black Friday was a bust for me :(

I was on the road at 2am, and home about noon EXHAUSTED!!  I didn’t find deals for the Christmas gifts I had on my list for family but I did find some crafty deals for me Smile  Michael’s had their cricut cartridges on sale for $27.99 so I got Birthday Bash <yeah>, Joann’s had their punches on 40% off so I got a couple of EK Success punches <awesome>, and that’s it for me.  I really wanted the Jolly Holidays Lite Cartridge but I went to 5 different Walmart’s and they all said they didn’t get them in, and I can’t order it online cause it’s out of stock <total bummer> Sad smile

Oh well – the Birthday Bash cartridge looks sooo cute so I’ll have to play with it a little tomorrow.  I actually went back to Joann’s today for a doorbuster they had but by the time I got there they were all gone Sad smile  Like I said, Black Friday was a bust for me Sad smile  I hope everyone else had better luck Smile

Time to prepare for Christmas ….

Now that the Thanksgiving cards are in the mail it’s time to get down to business and get the Christmas cards done.  I think I’m gonna have to wait till Sunday to start on Christmas stuff so I have time to recover from Thanksgiving and Black Friday shopping.  Have you seen the deals for Black Friday?? Joann’s, Michael’s and AC Moore have some pretty Cricut Cartridge deals, and I want to try and hit Walmart for the new Cricut Lite cartridges – I really want Jolly Holidays Smile

Oh well – see y’all after the holidays and I’ll try and get more vigilant about posting.

Thanksgiving Cards

Well I finally got them all in the mail, yes I know they’re late Sad smile  I only made 12 this year, since this was the first time I had ever made Thanksgiving cards I didn’t want to overwhelm myself Smile

Out of the 12 I made I only got pictures of 2 of them, sorry, but I had already sealed the envelopes when I realized I didn’t take any pictures – I have got to remember to get my camera out!!

Here ya go, hope they provide some inspiration for someone.  The animals are cut from the Create A Critter cartridge and the paper is from the Imaginisce Apple Cider line.

Thanksgiving cards

Today I took the time to reorganize my scrap room and put some stuff away that I had ordered, sshhh don’t tell my hubby Winking smile  By doing this it got me back in the mood to scrap, so I started working on my Thanksgiving cards Smile  I know, it’s almost Thanksgiving but I only have a few to make and I’m thinking I can get them in the mail before the weekend and I’ll be ok.

I am doing my cards out of paper from the Imaginisce Apple Cider line and it is soooo cute!!  Hopefully I’ll have some to post tomorrow, and I’ve got to get back into posting on my blog.

Little behind…

Ok! OK!  I know I haven’t posted in a LONG time but I’ve had some things going on, crafty things that is Smile

First off – I went to my first scrapbooking retreat and had a TOTAL blast!!  I didn’t get as much accomplished as I had planned too when I left the house but I still had LOTS of fun.  I did 2 12 x 12 layouts and 4 completed Christmas Cards, 20 folded cards (Hey, the folding is hard too), and 1 birthday card.  I had fun and that’s really all that matters!!

Here are pictures of the Christmas cards I did.

Snowflake Card (2)

The snowflakes are from the Joys of the Season cartridge and were drawn with my cricut markers.  First you draw your outline with the markers then put your blade back in and cut the snowflake out.  It makes it look like there is a shadowed layer when there really isn’t.  The stamp is from the “My Pink Stamper” line.

Snowman Card (2)

The snowman is from the Snow Friends cartridge and cut at 3 1/2 inches.  The stamped face is from Peachy Keen Stamps “Everyday Face Parts” and the sentiment is from the “My Pink Stamper” line.

I know I said I made 4 completed Christmas cards, which I did, but I made 3 snowman cards Smile

Smiley Card Cartridge …

I have been really anxious to get this cartridge when I saw the cricut designers making cards with it, the images were sooo cute.

I spent a half hour trying to cut one image out for a card (fish) and gave up.  This fish had so many layers and pieces it was crazy and I cut them out and couldn’t figure out how they were suppose to go on – and then I wasn’t sure if I even had all the pieces cut.  I went to the Cricut website to see if they had posted a manual for it… nope!

Ya know, I love a good challenge but it would be really helpful if you knew what the end result was suppose to look like – how am I suppose to know a fish is gonna have EYELASHES !!!

Needless to say, I’m a little bummed out right now so I’ve decided to work on something else.

Gypsy finally updated ….

It wasn’t easy, and it would have really helped if PC would have put out some directions on their website.  Luckily, I found some direction on their facebook page so I was able to finally get it to start.  Once it started it seemed to go real smooth, till the end.  When it told me it was finished I was pretty excited, I ran in to my scrap room, plugged it in to my Cricut and immediately went to the Smiley Card Cartridge (which I’ve been waiting for).  Well, my images were there but they were still showing in red instead of black as they should when they’re linked.  Bummed out, I went back to the computer and plugged it in.  I ran the sync again and it said my Gypsy was up to date, NOT!!  I called PC (LOL), and sat on hold for 72 minutes – I can’t complain cause I could tell from the message boards I wasn’t the only person having problems.  During the 72 minutes of hold time, I fiddled with the sync program and ended up reinstalling all my cartridges.  Just as PC answered my call my sync was finishing.  I told them to stay on the line with me while I checked, and that I thought maybe I wouldn’t need them after all – the guy actually sounded relieved – LOL!!  My free cartridges were there and in BLACK … WOO HOO !!!  I thanked PC (for letting me sit on hold so long) and hung up.

I sure hope the future updates for the Gypsy go better than this one.

Cookie Tags

The past few days I’ve been working on cookie tags for a friend who’s bringing cookies to a retreat we’re going too.  I had to make 90 tags and as usual I’m not finished yet cause I procrastinated.  Actually, I can’t take the blame for all the procrastination because my Gypsy ran outa juice while I was working so I had to recharge it.

Here is what they look like -

IMG_0395

I designed them on my Gypsy in three parts.  First page was the tag from Plantin Schoolbook.  Second page was the hearts from George.  Third page was the writing, which came from Printing Press.  The pink writing is done with a pink glitter gel pen in my Cricut.  First I did the writing with the pen, and then switched out my gel pen for the blade and cut the tag out.

The other tags say – German Chocolate, Oatmeal Raisin, Snickerdoodles (which I had to break down to two words), and Peanut Butter.  Since I have two more sets to print out I better scoot and get em finished!!

Finally posted … Halloween Cards

I just made a few of them since this was the first time ever doing them. hope you like Smile

Halloween Cards

I’ve been busy the past couple of days making Halloween cards, which I’ve never done so it was hard getting the inspiration but I muddled through it Smile  I’ll post them as soon as I know everyone’s gotten theirs cause I don’t want to spoil the surprise.

National Card Making Day

Well, it’s National Card Making Day and I haven’t made even one card.  I’ve been busy mowing the grass and going to a festival and then dinner, and now I feel like I’m not motivated to go in my scrap room.

How about we make this National Card Making weekend, and I make something tomorrow :)  Actually, I’ve been making cards all week for people but mailed them out before I took pictures – I know, I couldn’t believe I did it either.  Oh well, off to watch some TV and veg :)

New Blog Counter

Today I put a counter on my blog just to see how many hits I get, and then I found out that blogger counts for you!!  Oh well, I’ll leave the new one just for the heck of it now :)   Anyway,  since I started my blog I’ve had 343 hits!!  That is soooo awesome but how do you get people to follow you ?? Those can’t all be hits from my family, can they ?? I sure hope not!!  I mean, I love that family wants to see my work and all but HEY – FOLLOW ME !!

LOL that’s my rant for the day.  I haven’t been feeling well this week so I haven’t even walked into my craft room – maybe next week I can get some things done.  I’m hoping to start on my Christmas cards as soon as I get my Stampin Up order.

Looks like I won’t get much scrapping done today :(  I have to take my hubby to the airport and make a couple craft store stops (priorities) while I’m in the BIG city :)

Hope everyone has a great day scrapping.
