If you’re just tuning in to my blog you may be wondering what the calendar page is all about.  Well, I decided to make calendar pages for my mom to hang on her fridge for this year and I’m only giving them to her one at a time, so she has to wait and see what the next month brings Smile

Here is her February calendar page which I gave her today !!

Peachy Keen Sketch Challenge #44

I decided to try another sketch challenge, which seem to cramp my brain all up!  Oh well, practice makes perfect right Smile

Here’s the challenge I did from Peachy Keen Stamps -

Create a card or layout based on the SKETCH provided with a TWIST - Use a monochromatic color scheme!

What exactly is monochromatic? Using tints and shades of the same color. (i.e. if you choose "red", you must use red, pink, light pink, medium pink, etc.) Black and white will also be allowed!

Here’s the sketch -

January 2011 Calendar Page

Last year my mom asked me if I could make her a calendar for the year 2011.  When I started looking through calendar kits they just weren’t big enough for what she wanted.  She wanted the squares to be big enough that she could write multiple things (like she’s really busy, LOL), and she didn’t want a big bulky calendar hanging on the fridge.

At the end of December I presented her with her first calendar PAGE.  I told her each month I’ll do a special calendar page for her Smile The one I gave her for January was winter themed, and she didn’t like it Sad smile She said she wanted something bright and cheery cause winter themes remind her of Christmas which was over.  I went back to my desk and came up with this calendar page for her, which she LOVED!!  The colors in her kitchen are yellow and blue, so it fit perfectly.

Today I worked on her February page, just something simple but I can’t post it till she gets it so you’ll have to come back after February 1st to see it!!

Scrapmaster’s Paradise Challenge #83

Ok, here we are with another color challenge Smile  I didn’t have all the colors that were needed for the challenge so I had to substitute a couple, which is no big deal for the challenge.

Here is the challenge….

image

Use this color combo for your project - be it a card, scrapbook LO,  3D or altered item. You do NOT have to use Stampin' UP brand colors or products, but you do have to use colors close to these colors.

Here is what I came up with for the challenge…

DSCN4457Like I said, I had to substitute a couple of colors but the picture is making the pink look much darker than it really is Sad smile I need better lighting in my room!

What I used to make this card:

The plain cardstock, pink and cream are from Paper Studio.

The patterned cardstock is actually Regal Rose from Stampin Up!

Ribbon is from Michaels

Sentiment is from My Pink Stamper.

Jitterbuggin Blog Challenge

This was a sketch challenge which I normally don’t do but thought I’d give it a shot this week.

The challenge was to follow the sketch and to have a bird on it, which should look kind of like this -

image

The card I came up with looked like this…

DSCN4453

I went to post it on the Jitterbuggin blog and realized that it also said you had to use something PINK – how could I have missed that!!  Needless to say, my card has NO pink anywhere so I can’t submit it but now I have the experience of doing a sketch challenge…geesshh!!!

It’s the Friday Mashup! Challenge #27

I have to say this is one of my favorite challenge blogs, and I hate waiting until Friday for the challenge – I want em every day!!  Smile

Anyway, with that being said I’ve already completed this weeks challenge – see girls, I need em every day!!

This weeks challenge #27 was to make something with the following colors:

image

These colors are Stampin Up! colors, but you can use something close you might have.  For example I substituted the Poppy Parade for a color in my DCWV mat stack that was pretty darn close.

Here’s what I came up with, and I have to say when I started this I had NO idea what I was gonna make but I think the end product came out cute.  Since I was really at a loss for what to do I didn’t make a video with this card.

DSCN4445

I changed this card a little after I posted it ‘cause it just seemed like it needed SOMETHING to glam it up Smile  I used Pure Glitz on the patterned paper and it gave it just the right amount of glam I was looking for!

DSCN4451

What I used to make this card:

Stampin Up! paper – Not Quite Navy, Sahara Sand

DCWV paper – poppy colored

Sentiment – a couple different ones put together, for my friend is from Fiskars, and the AWESOME is from SP & Company – check her new stamps out, they’re great.

Glam – Pure Glitz Stickles

This is the first time I’ve participated in the Cricut Cardz blog challenge, I’ve been stalking them for a long time – but I guess that doesn’t count?? LOL
Today the challenge was to use the colors Black, White, and Red ONLY.  I thought this was going to be a hard challenge for me, but as soon as I started thinking about the colors the penguin came to mind – I just love using a red scarf on him Smile
Here’s the card I came up with to submit for the challenge, and I think it came out pretty cute.
